Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments.
