No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
