Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
