Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
