Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
