No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
